A little about Luke

Here is Luke, the boy I teach, working on an activity page. He looks happy because he just finished recess and I believe we were on our way to P.E.

The second picture is of Luke pointing to his Titanic picture. He loves the Titanic. An anchor, an iceburg and a captain that will go down with the ship is always included in his pictures. The rescure boat is generally following close behind. Luke's dad said, on their blog (Blyth's blog link is on the left), "it’s (the Titanic's destruction) the main event of human history as far as he’s concerned."

From our numerous discussions about the Titanic I have at least convinced Luke to write the word 'boat' and why ships shouldn't hit iceburgs. He also doesn't quite get that it's history and that no matter how much he wants to help the people on the ship, they still die. I don't know why he is so facinated with this event or who told him about it, but he is and it has stuck. A good teacher would just dive right into the history of the Titanic and even the constructions of boats. But I'm not a good teacher, I'm inexperienced and I just want the kid to learn how to read. Pray for us!

I have been following you blog with interest for several months, now. You have stimulated memories that had been fading. I spent my early childhood in Nigeria, and am familiar with Miango and Jos. Thank you. Please keep blogging.

It describes the my recollections of Nigeria, many years ago.
